Hi, my name is John Vanderlaan. I am a 5th and 6th grade Sunday School teacher at
Springdale Baptist church in Fort Worth, Texas. We are a family church with an average Sunday attendance of around 250-300 people and growing. The average
attendance in my class on Sunday can range from 5-12 children.
When I took over this class about 3 or 4 years ago I
was a relatively inexperienced teacher and if there was a week where there were not enough activities to do on a given Sunday,
I was a bit out of my depth to come up with things to teach the kids off the top of my head. Searches on the web got me some
things, but rarely any kind of Bible skill drills unless you "joined" a site. I don't think when Jesus said let the children
come to me he meant pay someone to find out how to teach the children about me! I understand the need for larger Christian
organizations to need the revenue to create usable curriculum, but I also can relate to people in smaller (maybe not so big
budget) churches who need help getting the message across to restless preteens in an effective way
On this site I am
gathering activities and things to help out teachers when they need something extra to supplement their curriculum. I don't
have a whole lot to offer here yet so I am counting on your help. If you have some favorite activities that are not copywrited please
contact me and I will try to get them on the site to share with everyone.
A lot of the stuff I have made up myself
or modified from things I picked up over the years. Hopefully I don't step on any copy write toes. I'm sure if I do I will
find out quick enough and will remove it from this site.
